11 Sullivan County day care workers let go for refusing to get vaccinated
A group of day care workers in Sullivan County are now among the first round of employees statewide to be let go amid a growing push to vaccinate workers.
After 19 months on the front line as essential workers, 11 Sullivan County day care staff are coming forward exclusively to News 12 after they say they were let go from their jobs at Easter Seals Project Excel for refusing to get vaccinated.
The Monticello facility is a not-for-profit that serves kids in pre-school and pre-K, including some students with special needs.
Altogether, two teachers, five teaching assistants, three therapists and an administrator were let go Monday as parents and supporters stood by in protest.
The group is the latest round of essential workers to push back against vaccine mandates.
On Tuesday, a federal judge temporarily blocked New York from forcing the vaccine on health care workers.
News 12 reached out to Easter Seals Project Excel for comment but hasn't heard back.
