A person was taken to Bridgeport Hospital's burn unit Wednesday after they were found inside a burning car in Norwalk.

Fire officials say the car caught on fire while inside a garage of a home on Fairfield Avenue around 10:45 a.m.

Firefighters had to go through a garage wall to be able to open the car and remove the person.

The victim was first taken to Norwalk Hospital then the burn unit.

Officials say the fire was contained to the garage but there is smoke damage to the floors above.

Officials have not provided an update on the person's condition.

It's not clear how the fire started.
