? Yorktown officials are looking to resolve a sewage problem that has plagued the area for a decade.

County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz is calling for lawmakers to allow the Yorktown sewage plant to handle more water than it is currently permitted to treat. Kaplowitz says the plant can officially handle 1.5 million gallons of water a day, but already handles more than that. Other plans include pumping sewage to a Peekskill plant, but the Department of Environmental Protection has stopped a study on that course of action.

Yorktown official Linda Cooper says the problem needs to be resolved in order to keep the town safe.
