A businesswoman from Yonkers has opened a new center with cryotherapy treatment in Yonkers.
Dr. Marie O'Connor, 33, - president of Nordic Edge - says the process of cryotherapy can help with reducing inflammation, fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis and overall stress.
Patients step into an icy chamber for three minutes, with temperatures dropping to -200 degrees.
"Your body is trying to protect itself from the outside environment, so when blood goes to your core organs, it's getting rich healthy molecules throughout your entire body," Dr. O'Connor says.
She says the treatment has helped so many people that she has expanded her store to four locations including Eastchester, Scarsdale and soon to Brooklyn.
Other stores are located at seven international airports across the country.
Dr. O'Connor says the goal is to open a Nordic Edge in every city in the country and become a household name.
