A decorated veteran with the Yonkers Police Department is under investigation in connection with the armed robbery of a drug dealer.
According to sources, long-time narcotics detective Joe Rasulo stole more than $100,000 from a drug dealer while he was off duty. The sources say a confidential informant notified Rasulo that the dealer arrived in Yonkers with a large sum of money. They say Rasulo never suspected the dealer would report the robbery to the police.
So far Rasulo, a 19-year veteran on the force, has not been charged with any crime, but sources close to the internal investigation say he could be soon taken into custody. Rasulo has been placed on modified duty pending the outcome of the probe.
In 2005, Rasulo was named Officer of the Year. Later that year, he completed one of three tours as a soldier in Iraq.
