Yonkers will be getting a new firehouse after nearly 40 years thanks to an approval by the Yonkers City Council.
Crews will begin the $15 million project on the fire department's brand new Station 1 in the coming weeks, which will be located at School Street and Palisade Avenue.

Mayor Mike Spano says the location is ideal for efficient response time.
News 12 is told the previous station was condemned and closed down back in 2015 because it was unsafe.
