Yonkers theater holds showings of 'The Interview'
The controversial Sony film "The Interview" played at the Alamo Drafthouse to sold-out showings.
The Yonkers theater and other select theaters nationwide are airing the comedy about journalists who are put on a mission by the CIA to assassinate North Korea's president Kim Jong-un.
People who spoke to News 12 said they were planning on seeing the movie to support free speech rights.
Just last week, Sony yanked the film after computer hackers made terroristic threats.
The FBI sent its cyber task forces around the country to a roster of more than 200 theaters screening the movie.
FBI officials are speaking to theater owners about any potential threats.
The movie is also available online at Google Play, YouTube Movies, Microsoft's Xbox Video and a separate Sony website.
The Alamo Drafthouse will be showing screenings of the movie at midnight until the New Year.
