Yonkers students overcome odds to graduate
It was a day of accomplishment at a Yonkers school for troubled teens Friday.
Twelve seniors overcame the odds and graduated from the Leake and Watts High School. The students attending the school suffered from abuse and emotional problems. One student said he was a drop-out and hung out with the wrong crowd before attending the school. He now plans to go to college.
In the last two weeks, eight students at the school have been accused of robbery. Those students are currently going through the justice system.
However, the school?s principal says one of the goals is to show the teens that there are good opportunities out there for them. Many of the graduates now plan to attend college.
