Residents across Westchester flocked to Tibbetts Brook Park Monday to go for a swim and keep cool in the near-100 degree weather.
Close to 2,000 visitors showed up at the pool to beat the heat, News 12 is told.
Sean Thomas, of Jamaica, tells News 12 that his home country doesn’t see such hot, hazy humid days like in New York. Thomas, along with other parkgoers made the best of the heat with the pool’s slide and lazy river.
Park superintendent Mike Tomanelli says that 30 lifeguards and 20 other employees rotate on one-hour shifts during heat advisories to ensure that they stay hydrated while keeping visitors safe.
Tomanelli says the park could be just as busy Tuesday, when the heat continues to bake the Hudson Valley.
