Yonkers police officers conducted a training session today with 55 school safety officers at Palisades Prep.

"By having a collaboration between the police department and the school safety officers, we feel we can keep the community as well as the staff safe," says Daniel Medina, of the Yonkers Police Department.

School officers deal with many different scenarios, from injured children to strangers entering a school building.

As part of the training, officers learned how to have better communication with students. They also discussed gangs and other issues facing schools today.
