The Yonkers Police Department kicked off its second annual Coffee with a Cop community outreach initiative this morning at Eileen's Country Kitchen on McLean Avenue.
Patrol officers, supervisors and even the commissioner came out early Wednesday morning to the diner for a casual meet and greet with members of the community.
“For us it's nice to sit down with them and show them that we are normal people,”
said Officer Joe Licht of the Yonkers Police Department.
Westchester Community College student Lindsey Welch stopped by for a chat because she's interested in becoming a police officer, while Crystal Batson, who works as a dispatcher for the police department, stopped by to show her colleagues some support.
Coffee with a Cop is one of more than two dozen community outreach programs run by the Yonkers Police Department.
