A 19-year-old from Yonkers has been crowned Miss New York Teen USA 2020.

Maya Dominguez beat out more than 100 other candidates to take the title.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano recognized her success Monday.

Dominguez volunteers with Dress for Success and says she wants to become an international fashion designer.

"I want to show young children of any predicament, of special needs as well as low income; break the barrier, break the glass that society has cast on you due to your circumstance," she says.

Dominguez is the first teen to win the competition from Yonkers. She will go on to the Miss Teen USA pageant later this year.
