Yonkers mayoral race enters courtroom
The race for the mayor of Yonkers is entering a courtroom, as a decision was made to keep one candidate off the ballot for 2015.
Attorney Michael Sussman says he will fight to keep Dr. Fred Hernandez on the ballot for Yonkers mayor.
On Monday, Sussman learned that the Westchester County Board of Elections removed Hernandez from the independence line, saying not all of the signatures were valid.
"We will now be challenging the Board of Elections determinations trying to show the judge he, in fact, does have the sufficient number of proper signatures so he can be on the independence line," says Sussman.
Hernandez wants to unseat Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.
No decision has been made yet as to whether Hernandez can remain on the democratic line.
