Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano has named Roosevelt High School a spotlight school for December.
The award recognizes academic performance, extracurricular achievements and community volunteerism.
Mayor Spano highlighted Roosevelt High for providing hospitality for 600 students and staff of Family School 32m who were evacuated because of a minor fire.
"Not just above and beyond but the step towards excellence, that is why we're spotlighting Roosevelt today," said Spano.
Along with Roosevelt, three other Yonkers public schools will be sharing the spotlight during the rest of this school year.
