Yonkers incumbent mayor wins in primary
Incumbent Republican Mayor Phil Amicone secured his party's nomination with a win in Tuesday's primary election.
Amicone was up against former City Council President Vincenza Restiano. With 76 percent of precincts reporting, Amicone was leading his opponent by a count of 2,611 to 1,093.
In his victory speech, Amicone said he is thankful to everyone who is part of his team. He said more importantly, the people voted in favor of continuing to make progress and rebuild the city.
