Yonkers firefighters hold blood drive at the Portuguese-American Center on Park Avenue
Yonkers firefighters came together to save lives away from the flames Wednesday afternoon.
The department held a blood drive at the Portuguese-American Center on Park Avenue.
Their goal was to surpass the 72 pints they collected in January. For Yonkers' bravest, the event was personal following the 2012 death of firefighter Antonio Rodriguez.
"He was an organ donor. A lot of our guys always give blood and they're organ donors," said Yonkers Firefighter Union Vice President George Rocha. "They're trying to save a life."
