An 8-year-old girl was attacked by a loose pit bull in Yonkers and now her family is desperately asking the owner to turn the dog in to have it tested for rabies.
Saraya Bryant was walking with her sister and cousin down Van Cortlandt Park Avenue near Caryl Avenue Wednesday when a pit bull pulled her down and bit her leg and head. As she cried out for help, the girls say the dog?s owner grabbed the dog, put it on a leash and took off. Bryant required almost 60 stitches to close her wounds. The dog must be found within 10 days or Bryant will have to be vaccinated against rabies by undergoing a series of shots over a month.
Pit bull owners in Yonkers are required to muzzle their dogs and keep them on a leash. Anyone with information on the dog is asked to contact the Yonkers Police Department at 914-377-7427.
