Sandbags are being given out today in an effort to prevent flooding in Yonkers homes.
Free sandbags are available all day at the Department of Public Works.
Officials say there are four different areas in Yonkers that are at risk of flooding.
STORM WATCH: Westchester County
The DPW Commissioner Thomas Meier says crews have been preparing for the nor'easter for a couple of days.
He says they have been filling the sandbags for last day and a half and will continue until 9 p.m. tonight at the DPW Organic Waste Yard.
"For those people coming home from work who still have a little bit of time to make sure their homes are protected from flooding can come here and get their sandbags," says Meier.
Meier says most residents only need about a dozen sandbags to block their driveway.
