Yonkers deli goes up in flames
Arson investigators say the cause of a three-alarm fire at a Yonkers deli was electrical. Officials say they received a call about the fire at Tamimi Deli on New Main Street around 3:30 a.m. They say the street was filled with smoke when they arrived and that about 75 firefighters needed 90 minutes to put out the blaze. Residents who lived on the second and third floors of the building were able to escape and were not injured. The Red Cross arrived to help those displaced by the fire. Nine firefighters suffered minor injuries from battling the blaze. Investigators say the fire started from something electrical behind the counter and was accidental.
