The city of Yonkers has canceled all city-sponsored events through June 30.
That also includes community events requiring Yonkers Police or Parks Department special event permits.
Mayor Mike Spano says the decision does not come lightly. "We must remember that our health and well-being must come first in these very uncertain times.”
Spano says he “looks forward to the time when we can all resume a normal way of life which includes many of these celebrations."
The mayor says organizations that may have already submitted permits will be refunded their fees.
