'Yield' misspelling in Newburgh goes viral
Officials say contractors hired by the city of Newburgh misspelled the word "yield" Wednesday, leading many to take to social media to point out the gaffe.
The word was misspelled in white paint to say "yiled" along Broadway, where safety improvements were being made.
Representatives for Roadway Maintenance Contracting, the company on the job, say they have been working around the clock to finish roadway safety upgrades and corrected the mistake right away. Just not before the construction blooper could be posted to Facebook and go viral.
On the Facebook page of News 12's Blaise Gomez, the post generated nearly 200,000 views, likes and shares.
