Yankees to honor fallen Yonkers firefighter
Yonkers firefighter Patrick Joyce, who was killed in an arson fire in September, will be honored Saturday at Yankees Stadium during game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Angels.
Capt. Rudy Saro, of the Yonkers Fire Department, will be one of six firefighters in the honor guard as the national anthem is sung in front of the Joyce family.
The Yankees reached out to the firefighter's relatives, offering to pay tribute to Joyce. The team also set aside 60 tickets for his colleagues.
"Just a shame he's not there with us," Saro says.
