Yankees Manager Joe Girardi rushed to the aid of a driver involved in an accident in New Rochelle just hours after winning the 27th World Series title.
Police say the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m., when 27-year-old Marie Henry, of Stratford, Conn., lost control of her car on the Hutchinson River Parkway and slammed into a wall. Girardi, who was on his way home from the Bronx, witnessed the crash, pulled over and ran across three lanes of traffic to reach Henry.
County police officers say Girardi flagged them down and left the scene only after it became clear that the woman was not hurt.
