WWII veteran celebrates 101st birthday

On Sunday, Alex Strohmayer celebrated his 101st birthday at the Northeast Jewish Center, surrounded by his four children, six grandchildren and two grandchildren.

A World War II veteran celebrated his 101st birthday in Yonkers.
Alex Strohmayer was born in Vienna, Austria in 1920 and came to Ellis Island with his family when he was 8 years old.
His family invested in a garage business, so he started learning about automobiles. From there, he set his sights on becoming an aviator.
He completed over 35 missions over Europe as an ace B-17 bomber pilot.
On Sunday, he celebrated his 101st birthday at the Northeast Jewish Center, surrounded by his four children, six grandchildren and two grandchildren.
