A carpenter working on a construction project in Yorktown was seriously injured when he fell down a shaft Tuesday.
Police found the man unconscious at the bottom of a hole that was to be an elevator shaft. The carpenter was working on the Barger Brook Manor project, which involves building 200 condos on the 50-acre site. A spokesman for the project says all safety precautions were taken at the site.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration along with the Yorktown police are investigating the accident. The worker is in stable condition at the Westchester Medical Center.
