A construction accident at the former Bronx House of Detention left a worker dead Wednesday. Fire officials say the victim was removing debris with a Bobcat when the machine tipped over. The worker fell about 30 feet. The Bobcat then landed on top of him. Officials say no one else was hurt in the accident. Meanwhile, officials from the Department of Buildings have issued a stop work order while they investigate the accident. The demolition is part of the Gateway Center development project at the old Bronx Terminal Market. The city gave up the building years ago for the project.
