Today is Women's Equality Day, which commemorates the 1920 certification of the 19 Amendment to the United States Constitution granting women the right to vote.
It also calls attention to women's continuing efforts toward full equality.
To commemorate the day, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that she's directing the state Labor Department to conduct a report analyzing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women in the workplace.
The governor says the findings will be essential to ensuring New York women don't just recover from the pandemic, but that they rise up higher than ever.
