A woman died Friday morning after the car she was in careened into the reservoir on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers.
Police say the victim?s fiancé, 38-year-old James Callahan, of Mount Vernon, lost control of the vehicle on the northbound side of the parkway, just past Tuckahoe Road. The car crashed into a guardrail and went into the reservoir.
Callahan was able to escape after the car plunged into the water. A gas station employee says the man came in explaining his fiancée was still trapped beneath the water. Divers searched the water and eventually found the car and recovered the body of 34-year-old Rachelle Curry.
Traffic was stopped on the northbound side of the Sprain Brook while divers searched the reservoir.
