Woman details Perez's drunken, sobbing panty theft
A department store employee who saw Rene Perez hours before his death appeared in court Friday for testimony in former Mount Kisco Police Officer George Bubaris' manslaughter trial.
Michelle Arlotta, a Kohl's employee, testified that Perez reeked of alcohol while caught shoplifting panties at the store on the night he died. According to Arlotta, Perez started crying and blamed his intoxication on a fight he had with his wife and brother.
Arlotta also testified police officers responding to the store referred to Perez, who had at least 60 run-ins with Bedford and Mount Kisco police, as a "regular."
Mount Kisco Police Sgt. Patrick Costanzo also appeared on the stand Friday. Costanzo and Bubaris were called to a Laundromat six days before Perez's death to escort the drunken immigrant outside.
The jury will take the weekend off and the trial will resume Monday. More members of the Mount Kisco Police Department are expected to testify next week.
