Woman claims murder suspect has angry and jealous past
A woman has come forward to say the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash has an angry and jealous past.
Carla Scott is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the April 18 death of Glynis Pinto, of Yonkers. Scott faced a judge Wednesday.
Police say that surveillance video shows Pinto stepping in front of a black sedan, when the car suddenly lunges forward and knocks the mother of five children up onto the car. The 37-year-old Yonkers woman clings to the hood as the car speeds through the intersection of Warburton Avenue and Babcock Place in Yonkers. Pinto was thrown from the vehicle out of camera range, run over and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
After an extensive search and dozens of leads, Scott, 34, was arrested in the case. According to family members, the two women had a prior dispute and had been fighting over a man.
Nikeyma Haskins, of Mount Vernon, claims that she had also fought with Scott over a man, and it landed her behind bars.
"All her disputes have been over guys, guys, guys," Haskins says. "She's threatened to kill me numerous amounts of times. We've gotten into fights. She put me in jail."
Scott's case is now being turned over to a grand jury. Her next court date is set for May 11 at the County Courthouse in White Plains.
