Woman, 4 dogs survive rollover accident in Yonkers
A woman and her four dogs are lucky to be alive Friday after a two-car accident sent them flying off the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers.
According to police, Susan Stern, of Putnam Valley, was traveling southbound in her pick-up truck with her dogs in cages when she was broadsided by a Honda around 2:30 p.m. Police say the two cars spun out and hit again. Stern?s truck slammed into the guardrail and then into the marshy area next to the parkway, investigators say.
The dogs were all thrown from the truck, but were not hurt. Stern suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital. She was charged with changing lanes unsafely and driving without a license.
Police also arrested a man who got impatient while traffic was stopped during the accident investigation. Police say the man tried to run over officers. He was charged with obstructing an investigation.
