Witnesses recount moments before Wallkill plane crash
Officials have yet to release the names of two victims involved in Sunday?s deadly Wallkill plane crash. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials said the aircraft went down in a wooded area near the intersection of Puffytown and Scotchman Collabar roads just before 7 p.m. According to the FAA, the plane was an experimental home-built type aircraft.People who saw the plane said at first they thought the pilot was practicing tricks as they watched the aircraft do several loops. However, they said it quickly became obvious the plane was out of control as it disappeared behind a line of trees. Sources tell News 12 Westchester that the plane was registered to James Whiteford, of Monroe, who is believed to have been the pilot. That, however, has not been confirmed by officials.
