Witnesses: Boy struck by car in Canarsie

Authorities say a person is in the hospital after being struck by a car in Canarsie on Wednesday.

Authorities say a person is in the hospital after being struck by a car in Canarsie on Wednesday.
Police say the car crashed into a pole on the Seaview Avenue median. Witnesses say the car struck a boy near Rockaway Parkaway.
News 12 spoke with the driver of the car, who said she was rattled by the entire incident. She told News 12 she swerved away and actually missed hitting the pedestrian.
The driver was allowed to leave on her own and was not taken into custody.
Authorities have not confirmed how old the victim is or what condition he or she may be in at the moment. Stay with News 12 for updates on this story as they become available.
