With phase two in in some New York regions pushed back another two weeks, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro is making a plea to his constituents – saying that local businesses need them now more than ever.
"We need to be vigilant about supporting our local businesses," he said during his virtual town hall meeting Friday. "This is more than just shopping local. These small business owners are our neighbors. They support our Little League teams, schools, firefighters, charity events."
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, overall retail sales dropped 16% from March to April. The clothing and accessories industry was hit the hardest, suffering an 80% drop in sales.
