While the Hudson Valley didn't have any snow on the ground, many Americans didn't have to dream about a white Christmas.

Snow fell in parts of the West Coast this week, while winter storm warnings were issued across the Midwest. The potential heavy snow threatened to cause disruption on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

While skiers and snowboarders were able to hit the slopes, the white stuff isn't all fun and games. A mix of snow and ice caused more than a dozen vehicles to crash on Freeway 15 near the Cajon Pass in California.

The storm threatened to drop up to two feet of snow in some areas, with eastern Colorado, western Nebraska and the Dakotas expected to be be hit the hardest.

Roadways throughout the plains and Midwest are expected to be dangerous through Friday, while forecasters say residents in the south should prepare for heavy winds, downpours, and even large hail.

News 12 meteorologists say it will be chilly, but dry across the Hudson Valley for the next couple of days. However, Friday will be warm with periods of heavy rain.

On Sunday, some snow could develop during the afternoon through the evening as a potential coastal storm approaches from the south. Depending on track of storm, a few inches of snow is possible.
