Peregrine falcons, once an endangered species, are making a comeback in New Jersey.
State wildlife officials outfitted the falcon chicks atop the Union County Courthouse in Elizabeth with tracking devices in order to monitors the babies. The chicks are also given medicine to help prevent diseases they can get from eating pigeons.
Pairs of peregrine falcons have been nesting on the roof of the courthouse since 2005. The falcons are the fastest animals on Earth. They are known for their 200 mph aerial drives.
Officials also banded falcon chicks in Jersey City.
