Police are searching for suspects after a push-in robbery led to a wild chase with gunfire in Mount Vernon Friday.
According to police, five suspects pistol-whipped a homeowner in the Bronx and stole 1,500 from him. The suspects fled in a grey minivan with New Jersey plates and the homeowner took off after them. The victim had a friend in another car that also gave chase. During the pursuit, police say the perpetrators fired on the victim and the car he was driving at three different locations.
Police recovered 11 shell casings, many at the intersection of Esplanade and Sydney avenues. Police consider the suspects very dangerous.
