Two Mount Vernon High School students were arrested after a brawl broke out in the school cafeteria Friday.
One student says the fight resembled a small riot, with people throwing food at each other and kicking a teacher and a security guard who tried to break up the brawl. Mount Vernon police were called to the scene to stop the fight that possibly started over a girl.
District Spokesperson Desiree Grand says the fracas started when six or seven teens were trying to get inside the cafeteria. When they were not able to enter, a shoving match ensued.
?They were fighting each other in the process,? Grand says. ?When security came over to stop, they got caught up in the mix.?
A 13-year-old and a 15-year-old boy, who allegedly attacked schools staffers, were taken into custody and could face assault charges.
