Wife seeks answers in fatal boating accident
A Yonkers woman is seeking answers as to how her husband could have drowned while boating when he was an expert swimmer and avid fisherman.
Brenda Zingone's 53-year-old husband, Rufus Barr, died Sunday while fishing with a female friend on the New Croton Reservoir. Zingone feels that because her husband was such a good swimmer, things just don't add up.
Police say Barr was pulled from the water near Pines Bridge and never regained consciousness. Police have not released the name of the woman who was with Barr at the time.
Zingone says she was set to go with her husband that morning, but couldn't find her boating permit. She says she is concerned because she didn't know the woman who was with her husband.
Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine Barr's cause of death.
