A veteran's widow in Orange is raising money to put wreaths on veterans' graves this holiday season.
Patricia Peltier, from Newburgh, raised enough money for 80 wreaths at the Hamptonburgh Cemetery.
Peltier says she paid out of pocket for the remaining veterans' graves, some dating to the French and Indian War.
She says she wanted to help after seeing flags put up for Veterans Day at another cemetery nearby, where her husband is buried.
"Same day I came here on Veterans Day and they hadn't done any recognition and it kind of broke my heart. So I wanted to make a difference," she says.
Peltier says she'll place the wreaths, ordered through "Wreaths Across America,"  graveside Dec. 15 at 12 p.m.
