A rally was held in White Plains Wednesday evening to honor those who died at the hands of police.
The crowd gathered outside of the Westchester County Courthouse to remember the lives lost.
Many recounted stories of their loved ones, including Nancy Maldonado, mother of Jonathan Maldonado, who went unconscious while being detained by Greenburgh officers in 2017.
Stanley Ridley, the father of officer Christopher Ridley, attended the event as well. Christopher Ridley was a Mount Vernon police officer who was killed in a friendly-fire incident while he was in plain clothes in 2008.

President and CEO of the Urban League of Westchester County Sorraya Sampson spoke at the event, saying, "We have disproportionately higher rates of infant mortality… the wealth gap is growing ever so much higher between the races and we've accepted it as that's just the way it is."
Democratic candidate for New York's 17th Congressional District Mondaire Jones spoke as well. He said police brutality is an issue he wants to tackle.
"I will fight to ensure that when there are negative interactions with police officers, that it's not left to the local District Attorney's office to investigate and prosecute where necessary," he said.
