A White Plains postal worker was arraigned today in the murder of his girlfriend inside their home.

Nixon Bourguignon pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend Shannon Coleman.

Prosecutors say he strangled Coleman in a fit of rage, inside their Garnerville apartment.

Bourguignon's arraignment had been delayed since May, so he could receive a psychiatric examination. The court ordered he be given the tests after he apparently cut his own throat and arms with a knife. Bourguignon's lawyer says his client was on Ambien at the time of the killing.

Bourguignon remains in custody with bail set at $500,000 cash, or $100,000 bond.
