White Plains police to equip officers with body cameras
Several recent high-profile police-involved shootings across the country have ignited calls to equip police officers with body cameras.
White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong says after a 10-month pilot program, the department is moving forward with plans to equip all uniformed officers with body cameras.
The city plans to make an initial investment of $80,000 to buy 50 cameras.
While most residents approved of the idea, other people News 12 spoke with said more needs to be done, especially regarding privacy issues.
