Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld (R), the underdog in the battle for the senate seat in the 37th District, received the endorsement of White Plains Mayor Joseph Delfino Thursday.
Feld has been fighting an uphill battle in her campaign against 12-term incumbent Democrat Suzi Oppenheimer. According to a recent poll conducted by the Albany-based Siena College, Oppenheimer is leading Feld by 35 points.
?It?s very heart-warming to know I'm still at that level,? Oppenheimer said while campaigning in Rye. ?We got that result a month or six weeks ago on the first poll.?
Since the release of the poll results, however, Feld picked up an additional 5 percent, and she urges voters not to count her out.
?I think the only poll that matters is on Election Day,? Feld says.
Mayor Delfino agrees. He says despite the preliminary numbers, Feld is going to stay in the game.
