White Plains high school holds final graduation ceremony
Family, friends and faculty are celebrating the final graduating class from the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains.
More than 100 students of the private, all-girls Catholic high school accepted the final diplomas issued by the school, which is set to be vacated July 1.
Parents and students fought hard to save the school, but the aging nuns found it too difficult to maintain with limited resources. They are now looking to sell the century-old, 16-acre property on North Broadway.
The White Plains Common Council approved a historic preservation law, and the leaders of Good Counsel plan to request that the property be preserved.
