Just a couple months ago, there was a good chance people across the Hudson Valley didn't have to worry about how to properly wear a face mask.
Fast forward to today, and it's all part of our daily lives.
Dr. Erik Larsen, who works in the emergency room at White Plains Hospital, explains there is a proper way to cover your nose and mouth safely.
He says one of the most important steps when putting a mask on or taking it off to limit cross contamination is making sure your hands are clean. "It gets in here, it gets in the nose and it gets in the eyes, so that's why handwashing is so important," says Dr. Larson.
Dr. Larsen says it's important to make sure air gaps are limited around the mask, and that it's fully covering the mouth and nose.
