White Plains played host to an upcoming crime drama that could soon come to a streaming giant.
Serialized drama "Street Smart" shot scenes at the Lazy Boy Saloon and Brazen Fox on Mamaroneck Avenue Monday. The show revolves around a retired NYPD detective who inadvertently gets his family involved in a word of crime and drugs.
Writer and creator Tony Welch says the series is a gritty drama that focuses on the opioid epidemic currently plaguing the country.
"We're not showing it in a glamorous light, we're showing it, basically, how it affects all families and even if you're not addicted, the people living with people who are addicted are affected by it as well," says Welch.
Welch says once the pilot is picked up, it will stream on a media service like Netflix or Hulu.
