The Duke
and Duchess of Sussex adopted a 7-year-old beagle named Momma Mia.
The couple
met Momma Mia during a visit to the headquarters of the Beagle Freedom
Project in Los Angeles earlier this month.
She was one
of thousands of beagles removed from a breeding facility in Virginia where they were being sold to labs
for animal experimentation.
The Beagle
Freedom Project rescued her and 26 others. The non-profit says it hopes to
welcome even more pups who need forever homes soon.
The SPCA Westchester also took in a number of the
beagles from Virginia and are looking for people interested in adopting them.
