For the first time ever, video has captured squid changing color to camouflage themselves from predators.
Japanese researchers say that changing colors is pretty common for octopi and cuttlefish, but no one has seen squid do it!
Researchers were apparently cleaning a tank when they caught the squid in action.
When this species of oval squid was against the clean tank, they appeared to match the lighter background. But when the squid moved over to the algae, they appeared to turn darker.
