Westchester County is now offering some financial relief to struggling restaurants and other small businesses and nonprofits impacted by the pandemic.

County Executive George Latimer announced a $10 million funding initiative called Business First.

Eligible businesses and organizations can apply for grants up to $49,000.

"Business First is really designed to offer immediate financial relief to small businesses and nonprofits here in Westchester County that may have been negatively impacted by COVID-19," says Latimer.

To be eligible for the county’s Business First grant, businesses and nonprofits have to meet a host of requirements. That includes showing that they were a financially viable operation prior to March 7 - that’s the day Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order declaring a disaster emergency.

Westchester officials say the $10 million for the Business First program came from money the county received from the federal government for coronavirus aid relief.
